On September 30, 2026, Ana Danch presents her new EP «Магія» — a conceptual five-track mini-album united by a single narrative. The release brings together Ukrainian folklore, Slavic mythology and traditional symbolism with contemporary electronic music, using them as a language to explore love, cultural roots, belonging and the search for personal identity. Ana Danch wrote both the lyrics and music for all five compositions.

The new EP is structured as a continuous musical journey. Its story begins with ancient images of nature and folk beliefs, gradually moves through the mysticism of human relationships and the theme of connection to one’s homeland, and concludes with a person turning inward toward themselves.

«Магія» does not use folklore merely as a decorative element. Folk and mythological motifs become part of a contemporary musical environment in which the past interacts with electronic sound, while familiar cultural images receive a new interpretation.

From «Квітка» to «Хто я?»: the story of the EP «Магія»

The mini-album opens with «Квітка». The track immerses the listener in the atmosphere of Ivana Kupala — one of the most recognizable traditions of Ukrainian ritual culture, around which legends, beliefs and symbols connected with nature, love and the search for the mysterious flower have developed over centuries.

The next composition, «Мавка», continues the journey into Slavic mythology. The image of the mavka takes the story into a space where the human world meets nature, legends and the supernatural. Within the context of the EP, the track continues the release’s broader fairy-tale and mythological line.

The central composition, «Магія», which gives the mini-album its title, turns away from ancient legends and focuses more directly on human relationships. The song tells of an inexplicable connection between two people — a feeling that is difficult to rationalize or express in ordinary words. This emotional «magic» becomes the link between the mythological imagery and the personal story.

In «Ой, ти родися», Ana Danch turns to Ukrainian folk imagery and the theme of belonging to one’s land and culture. Love, homeland, roots and the sense of connection with the land from which a person comes are intertwined here.

The closing track, «Хто я?», changes the direction of the narrative. While the previous songs focus more on nature, mythology, love and the surrounding world, this composition turns the gaze inward. At its center are questions of self-definition, doubt, one’s path through life and the attempt to understand one’s own essence.

In this way, five individual tracks form a single compositional arc — from the external world and cultural imagery to an inner search.

Ukrainian imagery in contemporary electronic music

One of the defining features of the EP «Магія» is its combination of traditional cultural motifs with contemporary electronic sound.

Ana Danch uses folkloric and mythological imagery not as an attempt to reproduce traditional music in its historical form, but as the foundation for a modern artistic statement. As a result, themes connected with folk beliefs, nature and cultural memory exist alongside electronic aesthetics and contemporary musical forms.

The result is that «Магія» works on several levels at once. It is a story about feelings and relationships, an exploration of Ukrainian cultural heritage and, at the same time, a narrative about a person trying to find their place, understand their roots and answer the question of who they are.

This approach allows the entire EP to be united by a single concept without turning it into a collection of variations on the same idea: each of the five compositions has its own story and mood.
