Ukrainian singer and songwriter Ana Danch released her new single «Магія» on August 19, 2026. The track continues her move toward contemporary electronic music with Ukrainian folk influences and will be part of an upcoming experimental EP of the same name. «Магія» is built around the idea of an almost inexplicable closeness between two people — a moment when mutual attraction no longer needs words. At the heart of the song are images of a starry night, a moonlit blooming garden and two people who unexpectedly recognize a kindred spirit in each other. Love here is presented not so much as a romantic storyline, but as an inner force capable of changing the way the surrounding world itself is perceived.
Musically, Ana Danch continues to explore the meeting point between electronic sound and Ukrainian folk tradition. In «Магія», folk intonations and ethnic imagery are not treated as separate decorative elements: they are woven into the electronic foundation of the track and work together with the rhythm and vocals to create an intimate, slightly mystical atmosphere.
This combination is becoming one of the most interesting directions in the current stage of Ana Danch’s career. Rather than reproducing folklore literally, the singer uses its emotional and melodic code within a contemporary form, searching for her own interpretation of Ukrainian electronic pop music.
“«Магія» is a song about the moment when words become unnecessary and feelings speak for themselves. I wanted to capture that special sense of connection between two people that feels almost magical. By combining electronic music with our folk code, this track became a personal manifesto of new Ukrainian music for me — contemporary, but with strong roots,” says Ana Danch.
Ana Danch wrote both the lyrics and music for «Магія» herself. Songwriting remains an important part of her solo project: she not only performs the material, but also shapes its musical and conceptual foundation.
From «Десерт» and «Триши» to a solo career
Behind the stage name Ana Danch is Lviv native Uliana Danchul, née Latyk. She has been involved in music since childhood: she began taking vocal lessons at the age of seven and first appeared on stage at nine. During her teenage years, she participated in Ukrainian and international vocal competitions and festivals, and wrote her first original song, «Не плач», at the age of 14.
In 2005–2006, Uliana Latyk was a vocalist in the female group «Десерт», and in 2006–2007 she performed as a member of «Триши». These stages of her career are also confirmed by the artist’s official pages on music platforms.
After a long break, she returned to active music-making in 2021 under the name Ana Danch. The artist subsequently focused on solo material and gradually expanded the project’s stylistic range from pop toward folk and electronic music. Her catalog came to include both original compositions and works drawing on Ukrainian musical tradition.
This new stage is set to continue with the experimental EP «Магія». The title single will be one of the project’s key tracks and points toward the direction in which Ana Danch intends to develop the combination of electronic music, folk elements and contemporary Ukrainian songwriting.
