Kalush
Noggano is a musical project and stage alter ego of Vasily Mikhailovich Vakulenko (born April 20, 1980, in Rostov-on-Don), a Russian rapper, musician, composer and producer who is also best known under the name Basta. The Noggano project took shape in the second half of the 2000s and became an independent part of Vakulenko’s work, with its own repertoire, concerts and discography. Its music is built primarily around hip-hop and gangsta rap, combining narrative lyrics, profanity, black humour, criminal folklore and elements of chanson. Noggano’s main studio albums are «Первый» (2008), «Тёплый» (2009), «Лакшери» (2016) and «Палец на отсечение» (2022).
How Noggano appeared
By the time Noggano emerged, Vasily Vakulenko had already released two albums under the name Basta — «Баста 1» and «Баста 2». After working on the second record, he began recording material that differed noticeably from the main direction of his work. This led to the creation of a separate character with a different manner of speech, subject matter and attitude toward the world around him.
In 2007, Vakulenko initially presented Noggano as a new artist whom Basta was supposedly producing. In interviews from that period, the character was described as antisocial and deliberately immoral. Later, the artist openly explained that it had been a game: the Noggano material appeared after «Баста 2», and enough songs were written in a short period to fill the first album and a significant part of the next one.
Noggano did not become simply another pseudonym for Basta. Vakulenko kept both projects active in parallel and divided the repertoire between them. While under the name Basta he could record personal, romantic and autobiographical songs, Noggano received a world of his own — courtyards, criminal stories, alcohol, money, friends, scams, everyday conflicts and absurd situations.
«Ебаный насос» and early Noggano
One of the first recordings to define the Noggano persona was «Ебаный насос». Even in the earliest songs, the features that would remain throughout the project’s discography were already present: long narrative verses, conversational delivery, profanity and storytelling from the perspective of a character who is himself part of the environment being described.
Noggano’s stories are often structured like short crime or everyday-life novellas. Instead of the traditional pop format built around a central chorus, Vakulenko may develop a plot step by step, introduce new characters and change his tone as the track progresses.
Album «Первый»
In 2008, Noggano released his debut studio album «Первый». This release marks the beginning of the project’s official album discography.
The record included «Птицы», «Супер герой», «Застрахуй братуху», «Ебаный насос», «Кирпичи», «У Ноггано депрессия», «Матрёшки», «Играй, гитара», «Голос андеграунда», «Шоу-бизнес», «Пати у Ноггано», «Дурка» and other tracks.
«Первый» almost immediately separated the new persona from Basta. Lyrical and melodic songs gave way to harsher stories, street language and black humour. At the same time, the album was not simply a parody of gangsta rap: alongside overtly comic episodes, darker and more serious narratives also appeared.
«Пати у Ноггано»
The title of the song «Пати у Ноггано» soon became the name of a separate series of live events. In the late 2000s and early 2010s, such shows took place at Moscow’s Gazgolder and other clubs. The line-ups included Noggano himself, QП, Oleg Gruz and artists associated with the Gazgolder circle.
The live format also helped preserve the boundary between Vakulenko’s two main names. A Noggano concert programme could be built primarily around hard-edged and humorous rap without mixing it with much of Basta’s more lyrical repertoire.
«Тёплый»
In 2009, Noggano released his second studio album «Тёплый». Some digital catalogues list later reissue dates, but the original release dates specifically to 2009. In the project’s discography, it follows directly after «Первый».
The album included «Мути без спешки», «На аккордеоне», «Я не люблю наркотики», «Качели» with Guf, «Калифония», «Армия», «Городское стерео» with Smoky Mo, «Полина», «Только память и пепел», «Водка», «Зять», «Начальник» and other songs.
The title «Тёплый» fits the album’s more varied mood. Alongside the familiar criminal humour, melancholic and lyrical episodes are more noticeable here. This is especially evident in «Калифония», «Полина», «Только память и пепел» and several other tracks.
«Качели» with Guf
One of the best-known collaborations from Noggano’s early period was «Качели», recorded with Guf for the album «Тёплый». Vakulenko and Guf continued working together in other projects, including the collaborative album «Баста/Гуф» in 2010.
However, «Баста/Гуф» belongs to Basta’s discography, not Noggano’s. There is no separate Noggano and Guf studio album titled «Клуб Шаолинь». Older biographies and unofficial discographies often mix Vakulenko’s projects together, which has led to Noggano being incorrectly credited with releases made under other names.
Collaborations
Noggano regularly recorded with other representatives of the Russian-language hip-hop scene. Among his best-known collaborators are Guf, AK-47, Smoky Mo, QП, Triagrutrika, Slovetsky, Scriptonite, Gio Pika and «Крёстная семья».
Notable collaborations include «Тем, кто с нами» with Guf and AK-47, «Russian Paradise» with AK-47, «На восходе» with Triagrutrika, and later «Пьяница» with Scriptonite and «В сухом остатке» with Gio Pika and Slovetsky.
Among the most-viewed videos in the project’s official archive are «Дети капитана Гранта», «Ролексы», «Russian Paradise», «Волга» and «Ростов — Город, Ростов — Дон».
Rostov-on-Don in Noggano’s work
Rostov-on-Don occupies a special place throughout Vasily Vakulenko’s work, but the connection with his native city is particularly visible in Noggano’s songs. Districts, courtyards, local speech and southern criminal aesthetics regularly become part of the stories and imagery.
The most direct example is the track «Ростов — Город, Ростов — Дон». At the same time, Noggano’s songs should not be treated as documentary descriptions of Rostov: real details are mixed with fictional characters, artistic exaggeration and grotesque imagery.
N1NT3ND0 — another alter ego
In 2011, Vakulenko introduced another independent rap project — N1NT3ND0. Despite the similarity of the criminal subject matter, Noggano and N1NT3ND0 have different concepts.
Irony, everyday comedy and grotesque imagery play a major role in Noggano. N1NT3ND0 was conceived as a much darker project: it contains less humour, uses harsher production and places greater emphasis on the aesthetics of organised crime. Gazgolder describes Noggano as a «bad» character, while N1NT3ND0 is presented as genuinely «evil».
For this reason, the N1NT3ND0 album from 2011, «Папа на рэйве» and later releases from that project do not belong to Noggano’s discography.
«Облака»
One of the songs from the second album that remained in the repertoire for many years was «Облака». In 2014, the track was used in connection with the film «Газгольдер» and received a separate video.
The comic side of Noggano is almost entirely absent from the song. It is a calm and dark composition about memory and the past, showing that the project was broader from the very beginning than purely satirical rap.
Noggano’s return and «Дети капитана Гранта»
After several years without a new full-length album, Vakulenko returned to Noggano in the mid-2010s. In 2015, he released «Дети капитана Гранта», «Собака съела товар» and «Питон, что за заварушка?». The material was later included on the project’s third studio album.
«Дети капитана Гранта» became one of the best-known songs from this stage. Its official music video is among Noggano’s most-viewed videos.
«Лакшери»
On December 31, 2016, Noggano released his third studio album «Лакшери». Seven years had passed since «Тёплый». The new record was much larger in scale than its predecessors and contained 35 tracks.
Among the tracks on «Лакшери» are «Семёрка», «Бра-за-Бро», «Торговец снами», «Район», «Пьяница» with Scriptonite, «Хардкор», «Маха», «Питон», «Диван», «Девочка», «Прикури от ствола», «Дети капитана Гранта», «Ролексы», «Тихий Дон» and «Роза ветров».
The album brought together virtually every side of Noggano: criminal stories, humour, long dialogues, street-life sketches and more serious narrative songs. Other creative identities of Vakulenko himself also appear on the record, further emphasising the independence of his musical personas.
«Ролексы»
One of the main singles from the «Лакшери» period was «Ролексы». The track received its own music video and became one of Noggano’s most recognisable later recordings. In Gazgolder’s official archive, the video has accumulated tens of millions of views.
During the same period, videos were also released for «Прикури от ствола», «Кот, который тебя унизит», «Дети капитана Гранта» and other songs.
«Волга»
After «Лакшери», Noggano continued releasing standalone singles. In 2018, he released «Волга» with «Крёстная семья». It became one of the most popular tracks from the project’s later period and received its own music video.
In 2020, Noggano also recorded «Зомби» featuring Lil Zombie for the film «Реальные пацаны против зомби».
«Палец на отсечение»
On December 2, 2022, Noggano released his fourth studio album «Палец на отсечение», the project’s first full-length work since «Лакшери». The album contains 12 tracks.

Structurally, «Палец на отсечение» is noticeably more compact than the 35-track «Лакшери». Storytelling once again became the foundation: each track develops around its own story, characters and conversational delivery. The Flow described the release as twelve self-contained stories by Noggano.
«Молоточек» and narrative rap
«Молоточек» is a good example of Noggano’s later style. The centre of the track is not the chorus but the gradual development of the story. Vakulenko used a similar form on his early albums, but on «Палец на отсечение» it became one of the album’s defining structural principles.
This emphasis on plot distinguishes Noggano from a significant part of contemporary rap, which is oriented toward shorter tracks. Vakulenko can use extended verses, dialogues, secondary characters and unexpected twists without shortening the story to fit a standard single length.
«Золотая Лада»
In 2023, Noggano released «Золотая Лада», recorded for the Russian television series «Лада Голд». The official release took place on September 21, 2023. That same year, the single «Обнинск» also appeared in the project’s digital catalogue.
«Золотая Лада» continued Vakulenko’s long-standing connection with film and television: music from his various projects has repeatedly been used in soundtracks, but in this case the track was released specifically under the Noggano name.
Basta, Noggano and N1NT3ND0
Basta, Noggano and N1NT3ND0 are not successive pseudonyms but parallel projects by Vasily Vakulenko, each with its own repertoire.
- Basta — Vakulenko’s main and most stylistically diverse project: personal lyrics, pop-rap, hip-hop, ballads, collaborations and songs for films.
- Noggano — narrative street rap with criminal folklore, black humour, grotesque imagery and profanity.
- N1NT3ND0 — a darker and more aggressive rap project with less humour and a heavier criminal aesthetic.
In addition to these names, Vakulenko has released music as Gorilla Zippo, Bratia Stereo and through other projects. GAZ’s official biography lists them as separate directions within his creative work.
Noggano’s musical style
Hip-hop forms the foundation of Noggano, but the project’s music has never been limited to a single formula. Early recordings use minimalist rap beats and gangsta rap elements; some tracks feature chanson-like intonations, while later albums employ modern bass-heavy production and elements of trap.
The chanson influence appears mainly in the melodies, characters and storytelling style. Noggano is not a performer of classic Russian chanson: those elements are integrated into rap and used alongside hip-hop beats and recitative delivery.
Lyrics and characters
The main distinguishing feature of Noggano is narrative songwriting. The songs are constantly populated by fictional acquaintances, friends, criminals, random drinking companions, women, police officers and neighbourhood residents. Many characters exist only within a single track, but the shared storytelling style creates the impression of one connected world.
The humour can vary greatly — from simple wordplay to openly absurd and dark situations. Profanity is part of the character’s speech and has been used almost from the very beginning of the project.
At the same time, Noggano also has material with little or no overt comedy. «Облака», «Калифония», «Только память и пепел» and several other songs reveal a calmer and more melancholic side of the project.
Noggano and Gazgolder
Noggano’s history is closely connected with the creative association GAZ/Gazgolder. It was founded in 2005 as a production centre bringing together recording, video, concerts, booking and other activities. Noggano, together with Basta and N1NT3ND0, is one of Vasily Vakulenko’s key projects within the organisation.
Vakulenko is a founder and co-owner of GAZ, so describing him simply as an artist or as the «general producer of the Gazgolder label» is not entirely accurate. Today, GAZ operates not only as a record label but as a broader creative association.

Noggano today
Noggano continues to exist as an independent live name for Vasily Vakulenko. The project remains featured on the official GAZ website with separate sections for releases, videos and concert listings, and in 2025 major standalone performances were held under the Noggano name.
At the same time, Vakulenko does not release music exclusively within one project: Basta, N1NT3ND0, Gorilla Zippo and collaborations with other artists continue to develop in parallel. Noggano retains its own repertoire — four studio albums, standalone singles and a concert programme built around narrative street rap, which Vakulenko began recording in the second half of the 2000s.
