Lost Frequencies - Biography and discography, all albums and songs

Lost Frequencies

Lost Frequencies (real name — Félix De Laet) is a Belgian DJ, music producer and electronic music artist. He was born on 30 November 1993 in Brussels, Belgium. He gained international recognition in 2014 with Are You With Me — his reworking of a song by American country singer Easton Corbin.

Lost Frequencies’ music has evolved from deep house and tropical house toward a broader combination of melodic house, progressive house and dance-pop. By the mid-2020s, Félix himself described his direction in terms of melody, vocal house and progressive sounds.

Early years

Félix De Laet grew up in Brussels in a musical family. His interest in music developed long before his professional career: he learned to play musical instruments and listened to a wide range of styles — from electronic music to indie rock, which he later cited as an important source of inspiration for his own productions.

Félix began seriously creating electronic music after getting his own computer. At first, he experimented with deep house, more jazz-oriented electronic compositions and unofficial remixes, which he shared online.

The name Lost Frequencies is directly connected to this period. The producer worked with old and forgotten songs, viewing them as a kind of “lost frequencies” that could be rediscovered through modern electronic production.

Are You With Me

The major turning point in his career came in 2014, when Lost Frequencies reworked Are You With Me, a song by American country singer Easton Corbin.

The original composition appeared on Corbin’s album All Over the Road, but it was Félix’s electronic version that transformed it into an international hit. The release came through The Bearded Man, associated with Armada Music.

Lost Frequencies retained the original song’s vocal and country-melodic foundation, but placed it within a minimalist house arrangement built around a soft bassline and a measured dance rhythm.

Are You With Me reached number one in the charts of 18 countries. In July 2015, the track topped the UK Singles Chart, making Lost Frequencies the first Belgian artist in history to reach number one on the British singles chart.

In 2024, Armada Music reported that Are You With Me had surpassed one billion streams on Spotify alone.

The success of the track made Lost Frequencies one of the most prominent figures of the melodic and tropical house wave of the mid-2010s.

Reality

His next international hit was Reality, recorded with Dutch singer-songwriter Janieck Devy and released in 2015.

The track continued Lost Frequencies’ early combination of electronic production with acoustic and singer-songwriter pop elements. It topped the charts in several European countries, including Belgium and Germany.

The success of two consecutive singles demonstrated that Are You With Me was not simply a one-off viral release and allowed Félix to move on to work on his first full-length album.

Less Is More

On 21 October 2016, Lost Frequencies released his debut studio album Less Is More through Armada Music.

It included his early hits and new material, among them:

  • Are You With Me
  • Reality
  • Beautiful Life with Sandro Cavazza
  • What Is Love 2016
  • All or Nothing
  • Here with You

The title Less Is More accurately reflected Lost Frequencies’ production approach at the time: instead of overloaded EDM arrangements, he focused on relatively concise rhythms, melody, vocals and acoustic elements.

ECHO Awards

The international success of Are You With Me brought Félix significant recognition from the European music industry.

At the German ECHO Awards 2016, Lost Frequencies received two awards:

  • Hit des Jahres / Hit of the YearAre You With Me
  • Dance International

In the Hit of the Year category, the track competed against releases by Adele, Major Lazer and Felix Jaehn, among others.

Tomorrowland

The Belgian festival Tomorrowland holds a special place in the career of Lost Frequencies.

Félix has performed on the Mainstage multiple times and later received his own curated festival programme, Lost Frequencies & Friends. As part of this stage, he invited artists from different areas of electronic music. In 2024, the line-up included ACRAZE, Claptone, Gryffin, Kungs and Sub Focus, while the 2025 edition featured Netsky, Oliver Heldens, Sonny Fodera, Dimension and others.

However, the widespread claim that Lost Frequencies was the first Belgian artist to perform on Tomorrowland’s Mainstage is incorrect: Belgian DJs had appeared on the festival’s main stage much earlier.

Found Frequencies

In 2017, Lost Frequencies launched his own record label, Found Frequencies, in association with Armada Music.

The project became a platform not only for Félix’s own releases, but also for music by other producers. The Found Frequencies catalogue has included releases by Pretty Pink, Funky Fool, Magnvs, Robby East, Rolipso and other artists.

The label’s name logically continued the idea behind Lost Frequencies: while his artist name was associated with searching for “lost frequencies”, Found Frequencies became a platform for music and artists that Félix wanted to introduce to his audience.

Crazy and Melody

One of the notable releases of the following period was Crazy, recorded together with Dutch duo Zonderling.

It was followed by Melody with British singer James Blunt. These tracks demonstrated Lost Frequencies’ gradual move away from his early tropical house sound toward a more universal form of electronic pop in which house production was built around a strong vocal song.

Alive and Feeling Fine

On 4 October 2019, Lost Frequencies released his second studio album, Alive and Feeling Fine. It was a two-disc project: the first part contained original Lost Frequencies tracks, while the second featured a continuous DJ mix made up of extended versions, special live edits and remixes.

The main part of the album included:

  • Sun Is Shining
  • Truth Never Lies with Aloe Blacc
  • Crazy with Zonderling
  • Beat of My Heart
  • Recognise with Flynn
  • Like I Love You
  • Melody with James Blunt
  • Black & Blue
  • Lost Like Us

The album was accompanied by the development of the Lost Frequencies Live format, in which electronic production was combined with live musicians and vocalists.

Cup of Beats

In 2020, Lost Frequencies released the six-track EP Cup of Beats.

The project included Love to Go, recorded with Zonderling and Kelvin Jones, and continued the artist’s movement toward melodic house and vocal electronic music.

Where Are You Now

In 2021, Lost Frequencies teamed up with British singer Calum Scott for the track Where Are You Now.

The song became the artist’s biggest international success since his breakthrough period. In the United Kingdom, it reached number three on the UK Singles Chart, and at the end of 2022 Official Charts named it the country’s biggest dance track of the year.

Where Are You Now also became the first recording by a Belgian artist to surpass one billion streams on Spotify.

In 2023, the Lost Frequencies and Calum Scott collaboration was nominated for a BRIT Award in the International Song of the Year category.

All Stand Together

Lost Frequencies’ third studio album, All Stand Together, was released in 2023.

The eleven-track release combined major singles from previous years with more recent material. Key tracks included:

  • Where Are You Now
  • Questions with James Arthur
  • Back to You with Elley Duhé and X Ambassadors
  • The Feeling
  • Dive with Tom Gregory
  • All Stand Together

Lost Frequencies himself described the album’s direction as a combination of uplifting house, tropical sounds, folk influences, acoustic instruments and more energetic club music.

The Feeling

In 2023, one of the artist’s central solo releases was The Feeling.

The track noticeably strengthened the progressive and club-oriented side of his music while retaining his melodic approach. Alongside Where Are You Now, The Feeling became one of the tracks that defined Lost Frequencies’ new sound after his early tropical house period.

In the DJ Mag ranking, the artist later described his own style as melodic, progressive, vocal house.

Head Down and In My Bones

At the beginning of 2024, Lost Frequencies released Head Down together with Bastille.

Another notable release followed with In My Bones featuring David Kushner. Félix himself described the track as progressive house with a pronounced pop-dance and soulful component.

This period further demonstrated how far Lost Frequencies had moved away from being defined exclusively as a tropical house producer.

Black Friday (pretty like the sun)

In 2024, Lost Frequencies reworked Black Friday, a song by British singer Tom Odell.

The new version was titled Black Friday (pretty like the sun) and became another major international release for the artist. Félix retained the recognizable vocal foundation of the original while building a more energetic electronic arrangement around it. Lost Frequencies’ official biography lists the track among the key works of the current stage of his career.

This approach continued the idea on which the Lost Frequencies project had originally been built: reinterpreting an existing song through his own electronic aesthetic.

Musical style

Lost Frequencies’ early work is closely associated with tropical house and deep house, although this classification primarily describes the period of Are You With Me and Reality.

As his career developed, his music came to include:

Unlike producers focused primarily on instrumental club tracks, Lost Frequencies places considerable emphasis on song structure and vocals.

Acoustic guitar, piano and other organic instruments regularly appear in his recordings alongside electronic bass, house rhythms and synthesizers.

Félix himself has noted that indie rock has a particularly strong influence on his contemporary songwriting.

DJ Mag Top 100 DJs

Lost Frequencies regularly appears in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs ranking.

In 2024, he ranked No. 20, and in the 2025 ranking he moved up to No. 19. In his DJ Mag profile, his style was listed as melodic, progressive and vocal house.

These results also reflect the evolution of his live image: while his early hits were largely radio-oriented and relaxed, modern Lost Frequencies DJ sets are noticeably more energetic than the studio versions of his tracks.

Current stage

By the mid-2020s, Lost Frequencies continued working simultaneously across several formats — as a creator of radio singles, a club DJ, a live artist and the head of Found Frequencies.

His festival performances began covering a broader range of house music. Félix himself has noted that the format of his sets depends on the venue: in a more intimate setting, he may make the programme more melodic, while on a Mainstage he uses a harder and darker sound.

In 2025–2026, faster tracks began appearing among the new directions in his music. For example, Listen to Me was produced at around 140 BPM, significantly faster than Lost Frequencies’ usual range.

In 2026, the artist continued performing at Tomorrowland Winter and Tomorrowland Belgium while simultaneously presenting new material.

Tomorrowland and Lost Frequencies & Friends

Over time, Lost Frequencies’ connection with Tomorrowland developed far beyond conventional festival appearances.

The Lost Frequencies & Friends project evolved into a dedicated curated stage where Félix brings together artists from different musical directions — house, melodic music, drum & bass and other genres.

In 2026, Lost Frequencies & Friends once again appeared in the official Tomorrowland Belgium programme.

Lost Frequencies belongs to the generation of European producers who offered a softer alternative to festival big room EDM in the mid-2010s.

Are You With Me and Reality helped bring tropical and melodic house into the mainstream European charts, but Félix’s later career showed that his early stylistic formula would not become a limitation.

Through Alive and Feeling Fine, Where Are You Now, All Stand Together, The Feeling and subsequent releases, his music gradually shifted toward melodic, progressive and vocal house. At the same time, Found Frequencies and Lost Frequencies & Friends allowed him to work not only as a solo artist, but also as a curator of his own part of the contemporary European electronic scene.
