Адаптация стихотворения "Моя родина" Николая Михайловича Языкова. Написано в ноябре 1822 года. Впервые опубликовано в том же в журнале "Новости литературы". Стихотворению предпослан заголовок "Посвящение А. М. Языкову" - то есть оно адресовано среднему брату поэта - Александру Михайловичу Языкову. Стихотворение написано скорее всего в период, когда поэт находился в родовом имении Языково (Симбирская губерния, ныне Ульяновская область). Там Н.М.Языков часто бывал и черпал вдохновение для патриотических мотивов. Стихотворение построено как диалог-вопрос. Герой стихотворения последовательно отвергает "чужие" культурные и исторические ориентиры (лазурная Рона - Франция, барды Альбиона - Англия, Арминий - германский герой), чтобы в итоге утвердить свою, русскую родину. В финале он связывает понятие родины с памятью о героях прошлого, с "памятью героев" и "краем вдохновений".
