Вольная адаптация стихотворения Николая Михайловича Языкова "Две картины". Написано в 1825 году (по некоторым уточнениям - между 2 и 16 августа). В тот момент поэту было всего 22 года. Он учился на философском факультете Дерптского университета и был влюблён в Анну Степановну Протасову (доверенная фрейлина и близкая подруга императрицы Екатерины II. Получила звание камер-фрейлины, а позже графский титул), живо интересовался русской литературой, встречался с А.С.Пушкиным в имении Михайловское. Первая публикация состоялась в 1826 году в альманахе "Северные цветы". Основной образ стихотворения Чудское озеро. Место историческое (связано с Ледовым побоищем), но поэт фокусируется не на событиях, а на эпичной, величественной красоте самой природы. В целом стихотворение "Две картины" яркий образец русской романтической пейзажной лирики, где через контраст состояний природы поэт раскрывает глубину и многогранность мира.
