Umar Keyn
Le Twins are a Mexican electronic duo formed by twin sisters Karen de la Garza and Karla de la Garza from Monterrey. They work as DJs, music producers, songwriters and vocalists, while their live shows combine DJ sets with their own vocals and live percussion. Over the course of their career, the Le Twins sound has evolved from festival EDM, bass music and trap toward tech house, techno and electronic music with a pronounced Latin American component.
The duo gained international recognition through tours across Asia, Europe and the Americas, as well as performances at Tomorrowland, EDC, Ushuaïa Ibiza and other major festival venues. Since 2022, Le Twins have regularly appeared in the main DJ Mag Top 100 DJs ranking, gradually rising from No. 92 to No. 78.
The Le Twins discography includes Not Thinkin Bout You, No Feelings, Dime la verdad, Latina, Takata, Entre Tu Y Yo, Music Is The Answer, A Little Techno, MOON, Work That, Bella Peligrosa and other releases. Their music has appeared on SPRS / Spinnin' Records, Smash The House, Generation Smash, Dim Mak, HEXAGON and their own Double Trouble Recordings.
Childhood and interest in electronic music
Karen and Karla grew up in Monterrey, the capital of the Mexican state of Nuevo León. They were interested in music from childhood: they sang, attended music classes and choir, while their interest in the electronic scene was largely sparked by their older brother, with whom they attended electronic music events in Monterrey.
According to Karen, while most of their peers mainly listened to mainstream pop music, the sisters were already interested in DJs and the electronic scene. Their desire to learn DJing themselves led them to a specialised school. Their initial training still took place on vinyl turntables — before they moved on to modern digital DJ equipment.
Their first performances took place at events organised by the same academy. After several such sets, the sisters began receiving invitations from promoters in other cities.
At around the age of 16–17, they decided to treat music not merely as a hobby but as a profession. Karen and Karla later moved from Monterrey to Mexico City, where they continued their musical education and began developing Le Twins more actively as an independent artist project.
From DJing to original production
At the beginning of their career, Le Twins primarily performed as a DJ duo, but they soon came to the conclusion that working only with other artists’ tracks was not enough.
The sisters began focusing on music production, songwriting and vocals, gradually transforming Le Twins from a conventional DJ project into a hybrid electronic live format. Karen and Karla have emphasised that releasing their own music was an important turning point in the development of their career.
The roles in their live format also expanded beyond traditional DJing: Le Twins use their own vocal parts and live instruments. DJ Mag describes them as artists combining DJing, production, singing and drums, while early materials about the project also mention guitar and percussion.
This combination later became the most recognisable element of the duo’s stage format.
Early releases
One of their first notable independent releases was Not Thinkin Bout You, released on 2 October 2017. The sisters acted as songwriters, producers and performers of the track.
2017 was also an important year for their touring career. Le Twins performed in the United States, Latin America and China and also took part in Mexican shows featuring Steve Aoki. However, it is more accurate to speak of shared stage events and professional support: there is no released Steve Aoki & Le Twins collaborative single in their official discography from that period.
On 13 July 2018, No Feelings was released. The track came out on Clippers Sounds and became one of the first Le Twins recordings to receive broader international distribution.
In February 2019, The Girl That Fell to Earth appeared, followed on 7 June by the Spanish-language Dime la verdad on Worldwide Records.
The use of their own Spanish-language vocals gradually became one of the duo’s important characteristics and would later be developed much further.
Tomorrowland
The biggest international milestone of their early period was a performance at Tomorrowland 2019 in Belgium.
On 28 July, Le Twins performed on the Smash The House stage — the label and festival brand associated with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. By then, the sisters had already toured across Asia and Europe, but Tomorrowland significantly increased the project’s international visibility.
During the same period, they also performed at Ushuaïa Ibiza, including events connected with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. DJ Mag later described Le Twins as the first Latin American DJs to perform both at Tomorrowland and Ushuaïa Ibiza.
By 2019, their touring geography included China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, Spain, France and countries across Latin America.
The formation of their Latin American sound
As their touring geography expanded, Le Twins increasingly incorporated Spanish-language vocals and Latin American rhythms into their electronic music.
This became especially noticeable during their Asian tours. According to Karen, audiences in Asia responded well to reggaeton, Spanish vocals and recognisable Latin motifs even when paired with high tempos and heavier electronic production. This experience encouraged the sisters to continue mixing Latin music with EDM, hardstyle, bass music and later house and techno.
Unlike many EDM projects that rely on guest vocalists, Le Twins can write and perform their own vocal parts. Over time, the Spanish language became one of the defining elements of their studio work.
World Ends, Latina and Smash The House
Their subsequent discography included releases on labels directly connected to the major festival EDM scene.
Le Twins recorded World Ends together with Skazi and Wolfpack, released on Smash The House. Their catalogue also added Ones We Hate with Kom and Discotek on Generation Smash.
On 14 July 2022, one of the most representative collaborations of this period arrived — Latina with Spanish DJ and producer Juan Magán.
The title directly reflected the direction Le Twins had been moving toward for several years: combining European festival electronics with Spanish-language and Latin American musical material.
Who Is Who
At the same time, Karen and Karla began developing a separate, harder-edged project under the name Who Is Who.
The project emerged as an outlet for music focused primarily on techno and higher tempos, while the main Le Twins name remained stylistically broader. The sisters were already discussing the existence of Who Is Who in 2022.
This separation allowed them to avoid turning Le Twins into a project restricted to one style. Later, the boundary became less strict as techno and tech house increasingly entered the Le Twins sound itself.
DJ Mag Top 100 DJs
In 2022, Le Twins entered the main global DJ Mag Top 100 DJs ranking for the first time, reaching No. 92. At the time, DJ Mag described their music primarily as EDM with bass and trap elements and separately highlighted the combination of DJ sets, their own vocals and an instrumental live component.
In 2023, the duo rose to No. 84. By then, the description of their style had changed noticeably: DJ Mag listed tech house, psy-trance and big room techno among their main directions.
In 2024, Le Twins ranked No. 83, describing their own style as tech house, techno and Latin techno.
In 2025, they climbed another five positions to No. 78. In that year’s DJ Mag profile, the genre formula became even broader: house, techno, tech house, bass house and Latin.
This progression also clearly reflects the evolution of Le Twins’ music itself: from festival EDM toward a more club-oriented house and techno sound.
Takata
One of the key releases of their new period was Takata.
The single was released on 3 February 2023 through SPRS, a division of Spinnin' Records.
In the 2023 Top 100 DJs profile, DJ Mag described Takata at the time as the biggest track of Le Twins’ career.
The track already sounds noticeably different from the duo’s earlier EDM material: it features more house groove and Latin rhythm, while its structure is aimed not only at a festival drop but also at the club dancefloor.
Entre Tu Y Yo
On 18 August 2023, Le Twins released Entre Tu Y Yo with Italian producer Angemi.
Beatport classified the original version as house; the track is built around 128 BPM and a Spanish-language vocal foundation.
The release continued the direction in which Le Twins’ vocals became not merely a decorative addition to an electronic track but one of the main elements of the project’s identity.
Music Is The Answer
On 13 October 2023, Music Is The Answer was released.
The release appeared on A Good One, while the extended version was classified by Beatport as tech house.
The existence of this track is particularly representative of Le Twins’ genre evolution: by this time, house and tech house had become a full part of their studio discography rather than simply material for DJ sets.
A Little Techno
On 12 April 2024, Le Twins released A Little Techno.
Apple Music directly classifies the release as Techno, while Beatport lists the tempo at 130 BPM.
The track appeared during a period when the sisters were moving increasingly away from the typical EDM sound of the first half of their career. At the same time, Le Twins did not move completely into techno: their approach remained hybrid, with tech house, bass house and Latin electronics continuing to coexist in their newer sets.
MOON and Dim Mak
In July 2024, Le Twins teamed up with Turkish-Dutch producer Burak Yeter for the track MOON on Dim Mak Records, Steve Aoki’s label.
Dim Mak’s official description characterised the track as a dark underground techno composition featuring Le Twins’ vocals and a dense bassline.
This release is also important because it illustrates the difference between Le Twins’ real professional connections and collaborations that are sometimes incorrectly attributed to them. They have indeed been closely connected to the Steve Aoki scene for many years and eventually released music on his label Dim Mak, but that does not mean a Steve Aoki & Le Twins collaborative track exists.
Work That and HEXAGON
On 24 January 2025, Work That appeared — a collaboration between Who Is Who, RayRay and Le Twins, released on HEXAGON, the label founded by Don Diablo.
The recording effectively brought together both creative directions of the sisters: their main Le Twins name and their harder techno project Who Is Who.
The release also expanded the list of major electronic labels on which the duo’s music had appeared — following Spinnin', Smash The House and Dim Mak, HEXAGON was added to the list.
Double Trouble Recordings
Le Twins had already been publicly developing the idea of their own label by 2024. DJ Mag described Double Trouble as a platform focused on Latin electronic music and tracks with Spanish-language vocals.
The full launch of the Double Trouble Recordings catalogue came with the release of Bella Peligrosa — a collaboration between Le Twins and Dominican artist Nfasis — on 3 October 2025.
Subsequent releases reinforced the label’s direction. The catalogue added Booty Booty and Fuego, while the techno alter ego Who Is Who received its own harder version, Fuego (Lava).
In this way, their own label became a logical continuation of an idea that had already been present in Le Twins’ music since the early 2020s: combining club electronics with Latin American vocals and rhythms without restricting the project to a single subgenre.
Later discography
Their later work shows an increasing emphasis on house and Latin-tech directions.
In addition to Bella Peligrosa, the catalogue includes Suavemente, Need U To Go (Red Light, Green Light) on Dim Mak, La Baby with Nfasis and DJ Human Star, Booty Booty, Fuego and Lo Mueve with Raffa FL and Nfasis on Ultra.
These releases do not appear to represent a separate «new phase» disconnected from the duo’s earlier career. Rather, they continue a process that began with Dime la verdad and Latina: Spanish-language vocals and a Latin American character gradually moved from isolated experiments to the centre of Le Twins’ musical identity.
Musical style
Defining Le Twins exclusively as an EDM duo is no longer sufficient.
Their early DJ sets were indeed built around festival EDM, bass music, trap and hardstyle. This was the side of the project that DJ Mag documented when the duo first entered the Top 100 DJs ranking.
Gradually, house and tech house became increasingly prominent in their music, while the parallel Who Is Who project allowed the sisters to work more deeply with techno and faster forms of club electronics. By the mid-2020s, Le Twins themselves described their main range through house, techno, tech house, bass house and Latin.
Spanish-language vocals occupy a particularly important place. Le Twins write and perform the vocal parts themselves, so the Latin influence is expressed not only through percussion or samples but directly through the language of the songs.
Live format
The main difference between Le Twins and a traditional DJ duo is the hybrid structure of their performances.
Karen and Karla do not limit themselves to mixing tracks: in selected numbers they sing their own parts live and use drums, while earlier performances also included guitar and other live elements.
For this reason, their programme is more accurately described as a hybrid DJ/live show rather than simply a DJ set.
This format became the foundation of their international touring career and remained intact regardless of changes in musical direction — from early EDM to contemporary tech house and techno.

Over the course of their career, Le Twins have performed at major electronic festivals and club venues, including:

Le Twins in electronic music
The history of Le Twins is primarily a transition from a Mexican festival EDM project into an international electronic duo with their own recognisable combination of DJing, production, vocals, live percussion and Latin aesthetics.
Their Tomorrowland performance became an important point of international growth, entering the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs consolidated the duo’s position within the global festival industry, while Takata, Entre Tu Y Yo, A Little Techno and MOON demonstrated the gradual transition from EDM and bass music toward house and techno.
The creation of Who Is Who and their own Double Trouble Recordings expanded this model even further: Le Twins can now separate harder techno material from the more accessible house/Latin direction while also bringing both projects together on selected releases.
It is this continuous work with their own songs and vocals that distinguishes Karen and Karla de la Garza from many festival DJ duos: within Le Twins, DJing is only one part of the project alongside songwriting, production and live performance.
