Rosé, birth name Roseanne Park (Korean: 박채영 / Park Chae-young), is a South Korean singer of New Zealand origin, best known as a member of the globally popular k-pop group BLACKPINK. She was born on February 11, 1997, in Auckland, New Zealand, to a Korean family, and later moved with her parents to Melbourne, Australia.
From an early age she was passionate about music: she played guitar and piano and sang in a church choir. At 15, she auditioned for YG Entertainment, placing first among thousands of applicants, and moved to Seoul to begin training.
In 2016, she debuted as a vocalist in BLACKPINK, winning fans with her distinctive voice, charisma, and visual presence. Her tone—emotive, slightly melancholic, and softly expressive—is one of the most recognizable in k-pop.
In 2021, Rosé debuted as a solo artist with the single album R, setting multiple records: the “On The Ground” music video became the most-viewed k-pop solo debut video within 24 hours, and the single topped iTunes charts in over 50 countries.
She is active in fashion, collaborating with Yves Saint Laurent, Tiffany & Co., and Rimowa, and frequently appears on the covers of Vogue, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar.
