Benny Benassi (Бенни Бенасси; real name — Marco Benassi; born July 13, 1967, Milan, Italy) is an Italian DJ, electronic musician and producer, one of the artists whose work played a significant role in shaping electro house in the early 2000s. He gained international fame with Satisfaction, distinguished by its distorted bassline and synthesized vocals.
Benassi creates much of his music together with his cousin and longtime studio partner Alessandro “Alle” Benassi. Their collaboration covers Benny Benassi’s solo discography, the Benassi Bros. project, production for other artists and remixes.
His key works include Satisfaction, Able to Love, Love Is Gonna Save Us, Who's Your Daddy?, Bring the Noise, Cinema, Beautiful People, Paradise and other tracks. His studio discography includes Hypnotica (2003), Rock 'N' Rave (2008), Electroman (2011), Danceaholic (2016) and Feel The Bass (2026).
Milan and Reggio Emilia
Marco Benassi was born on July 13, 1967, in Milan. When he was around three years old, his family returned to Reggio Emilia — a city in northern Italy associated with his childhood, the beginning of his professional career and a significant part of his later studio work.
In the 1980s and 1990s, Reggio Emilia was one of the notable centers of the Italian dance music industry. The region was connected with production teams working on Italo disco, eurodance and house, including projects such as Black Box, Whigfield and other commercially successful releases.
It was in this environment that Benassi became acquainted with electronic dance music and club culture.
Beginning of his DJ career
In the late 1980s, Marco began working as a DJ together with his cousin Alessandro Benassi.
Benny later recalled that he started out as a house DJ at a club near where he lived. Alle had a musical background and was interested in techno, and their collaboration gradually moved beyond DJ sets into studio production.
In the mid-1990s, the cousins became part of the circle around Italian producer Larry Pignagnoli and the Off Limits studio. They participated in creating material for performers from the Italian dance scene, including Whigfield, J.K., Ally & Jo and Dhany.
KMC and I Feel So Fine
Before the name Benny Benassi appeared on global charts, Marco released music under other names. One of the most important early projects was KMC.
In 2001, KMC released I Feel So Fine featuring vocals by Italian singer Dhany (Daniela Galli).
The track gained notable club popularity and topped the UK club chart. In May 2002, it also entered the official UK Singles Chart, reaching number 33.
I Feel So Fine became Benassi’s first internationally notable release immediately before the arrival of the track that would completely change the scale of his career.
Satisfaction
In the summer of 2002, Benny and Alle Benassi created Satisfaction — a minimalist electronic track built around a hard distorted bassline, mechanical rhythm and synthesized vocals.
The recording initially spread among European DJs and club audiences, while its international commercial breakthrough came in 2003.
In the United Kingdom, Benny Benassi Presents The Biz — Satisfaction climbed to number two on the UK Singles Chart and spent two weeks at the top of the UK dance chart.
The music video became particularly famous, presenting a stylized demonstration of power tools featuring models. Its visual identity became so closely associated with the song that it remained one of the most recognizable parts of the history of Satisfaction for decades.
The sound of Satisfaction and electro house
The main historical significance of Satisfaction lies in its sound.
In the early 2000s, the heavily compressed bass used by Benny and Alle Benassi differed noticeably from much of European commercial house. Its metallic timbre, short rhythmic structure and minimalist arrangement were close to the aesthetic of a style that would soon become widely known as electro house.
Benassi was not the only musician shaping this style, but Satisfaction became one of the first recordings of the new electro-house sound to achieve truly mass international exposure.
Hypnotica
On May 23, 2003, the debut studio album Hypnotica was released, recorded with the participation of the vocal project The Biz.
The album included Satisfaction, Able to Love, Love Is Gonna Save Us, No Matter What You Do, I Love My Sex, Time and other tracks.
The album developed the production method of Satisfaction: aggressive synth basses, short electronic loops, processed vocals and a relatively minimalist structure.
Hypnotica received a European Border Breakers Award, which recognized European artists who achieved significant international success outside their home country.
Benassi Bros.
Alongside Marco’s solo career, Marco and Alessandro developed the project Benassi Bros.
Despite the name, they were not brothers, but cousins and longtime creative partners.
In 2004, they released the album Pumphonia, followed in 2005 by ...Phobia.
Unlike the more mechanical vocals of early Benny Benassi recordings, Benassi Bros. music was often built around full vocal performances. Dhany and Sandy Chambers became especially important contributors to the project.
Among the best-known Benassi Bros. recordings are Hit My Heart, Illusion, Every Single Day, Make Me Feel, Rocket in the Sky, Feel Alive and Turn Me Up.
Who’s Your Daddy?
In the mid-2000s, Benny Benassi continued developing the harder side of his electro-house sound.
One of the characteristic works from this period was Who's Your Daddy?, which retained the mechanical rhythm of his early recordings while making the arrangement even denser and more aggressive.
By this time, the distinctive “Benassi” bass had already become a recognizable production technique and had a noticeable influence on club electronic music in the middle of the decade.
Bring the Noise and the Grammy
In 2007, Benny Benassi created a remix of Bring the Noise by American hip-hop group Public Enemy.
He transferred the vocal aggression of the original into a hard electro-house arrangement, combining American hip-hop with European club electronic music.
At the 50th Grammy Awards in 2008, Bring The Noise (Benny Benassi Sfaction Remix) won the award for Best Remixed Recording.
This remains Benny Benassi’s only Grammy win: according to official Recording Academy statistics, he has one win from one nomination.
Rock 'N' Rave
In 2008, Benny Benassi released his second major solo studio album, Rock 'N' Rave.
The title reflected an attempt to combine club electronic music with harder, rock-oriented elements. The album featured I Am Not Drunk, Come Fly Away, Finger Food, My Body, Rock 'N' Rave and other tracks.
The album retained Benassi’s characteristic bass-driven style while expanding it through more diverse vocal and instrumental approaches.
Work with Madonna
A separate chapter of his production career is connected with Madonna.
In 2009, Benny and Alle Benassi created an official remix of her single Celebration. The remix was included in the official package of versions of the track and later appeared in expanded editions of the singer’s catalog.
The collaboration continued during work on Madonna’s 2012 album MDNA.
Benny and Alle participated in creating material for the album, including Girl Gone Wild. Marco and Alessandro Benassi appear in the official songwriting and production credits.
Benassi also performed at selected concerts on The MDNA Tour.
Electroman
One of the most successful later periods of his career is associated with the album Electroman, released in 2011.
Unlike the relatively minimalist Hypnotica, the album was built around numerous guest performers and combined electro house with pop, hip-hop and R&B.
The recording featured Gary Go, T-Pain, Kelis, apl.de.ap, Jean-Baptiste and other artists.
The album’s main tracks included Cinema and Electroman, while the same period also brought a major collaboration with Chris Brown.
Beautiful People with Chris Brown
Beautiful People was recorded by Chris Brown featuring Benny Benassi and was included on the singer’s album F.A.M.E..
The track was released in 2011 and became one of the biggest international pop hits associated with Benassi’s name.
In the United Kingdom, the song reached number four on the official singles chart.
The recording demonstrated how naturally the characteristic electronic production of Benny and Alle Benassi could exist not only in a club context, but also within major international pop music.
Cinema
One of Benny Benassi’s most enduring songs is Cinema featuring British singer Gary Go.
The original version appeared on Electroman and combined melodic vocals with a softer electronic arrangement than Benassi’s early hits.
A particularly important chapter came with the version by American producer Skrillex.
Cinema (Skrillex Remix) radically reworked the original in a dubstep style and became one of the best-known electronic recordings of the early 2010s.
In 2012, the remix won a Grammy in the Best Remixed Recording category. The award went to Skrillex as the remixer, not to Benny Benassi, although the global success of this version significantly expanded the audience for the original track.
Dance the Pain Away and John Legend
In 2013, Benny Benassi released Dance the Pain Away featuring vocals by John Legend.
The track became another example of his work with vocalists from outside the traditional club scene.
His discography from this period also included collaborations with Serj Tankian, Kelis, Ne-Yo and other performers.
Danceaholic
On July 15, 2016, the studio album Danceaholic was released.
The album contains 18 tracks and combines material from several previous years with new works.
Among the guest performers are Chris Brown, John Legend, Serj Tankian and others.
One of its central singles was Paradise with Chris Brown, continuing their collaboration after the success of Beautiful People.
In the United Kingdom, Paradise reached number 40 on the official singles chart.
Festivals and international DJ career
Alongside his studio work, Benny Benassi has maintained an active international DJ career for decades.
He has performed at major electronic music festivals including Ultra Music Festival, Coachella, Tomorrowland and Electric Daisy Carnival, while also regularly playing clubs across Europe, the United States and other regions.
During the 2010s, Benassi was especially closely connected with the American EDM scene and performed at major clubs in Las Vegas and New York.
The return of Satisfaction
Two decades after its original release, Satisfaction received a new cycle of official reinterpretations.
On August 12, 2022, Benny Benassi and David Guetta released a modern collaborative version of Satisfaction.
In early 2023, another version appeared — Satisfaction (Hardwell & Maddix Remix).
The new interpretations retained the famous synthesized motif of the original while adapting it to contemporary festival and club sound.
Love Is Gonna Save Us with ARTBAT
In 2025, Benny Benassi returned to another composition from the Hypnotica era.
On March 21, 2025, Ukrainian electronic duo ARTBAT and Benny Benassi released a new collaborative version of Love Is Gonna Save Us.
The original track had appeared on Hypnotica back in 2003, while the modern version transferred its recognizable melodic foundation into a darker house- and melodic-techno-oriented club setting.
The track was later also included on Benassi’s new studio album.
Feel The Bass
On May 1, 2026, Benny Benassi released the album Feel The Bass on Ultra Records.
The record became his first new full-length studio album since Danceaholic and ended a gap of almost a decade between major original releases.

The album is focused directly on club electronic music. It contains less pop vocals and fewer crossover elements than the Electroman period, with the main emphasis once again placed on bass, groove and dancefloor dynamics.
Every Single Day and the return to the Benassi Bros. legacy
On July 17, 2026, Benny Benassi, French producer Matt Sassari and singer Dhany released a new version of Every Single Day.
The title returns to one of the main Benassi Bros. hits from the mid-2000s, also recorded with Dhany.
The new work connected Benassi’s contemporary club period with the vocal dance aesthetic of his early discography.
Work with Alle Benassi
Although the international stage brand is built around the name Benny Benassi, a significant part of his studio history is inseparable from Alle Benassi.
Alessandro participated in the creation of Satisfaction and other key recordings, worked on arrangements, programming and production, and together with Marco formed the core of Benassi Bros.
Benny himself has repeatedly emphasized the importance of his cousin to his sound. Their studio collaboration began long before international fame and continued after it.
Benny Benassi’s musical style
The most historically recognizable element of Benny Benassi’s music remains the distorted synthesized bass, most prominently heard in Satisfaction.
His early period was built around minimalism and unusual bass sound design. On Electroman, the pop component became much stronger, while later recordings shifted once again toward club production.
This ability to change form while retaining a recognizable rhythmic and bass foundation allowed Benassi to work both with club producers and with major pop and hip-hop performers.
Remixes and production work
In addition to his own discography, Benny Benassi is known as a remixer and producer.

Personal life
Benny Benassi has never built his public image around details of his personal life. In interviews, he speaks far more often about music, studio work, touring and his long-term collaboration with Alle.
Reggio Emilia holds a special place in his biography. Although the musician was born in Milan and has toured around the world for decades, Reggio Emilia is the city connected with his upbringing, the beginning of his DJ career and his professional development.
Benny and Alle’s studio work also remained connected with the Emilia-Romagna region for many years.
