ANASTAZJA, full name Anastazja Love Ball, is an American DJ, music selector and multimedia artist with Chicago roots. She gained international recognition through eclectic DJ sets that blend house with funk, soul, R&B, amapiano, Brazilian funk, jungle, jazz, African and Latin American dance music.
Anastazja’s professional profile includes Boiler Room, Soulection Radio, NTS, Rinse FM, Circoloco Radio, COLORS, projects with Goyo Club and Keinemusik, as well as club and festival performances across the United States, the United Kingdom, continental Europe and Brazil.
Unlike electronic artists whose careers are built primarily around their own studio discographies, Anastazja became known first and foremost as a DJ and selector. At the core of her creative method is the ability to connect music from different eras, genres and regional scenes into a single dance-floor narrative. House remains an essential part of her musical language, but it does not define its limits.
Chicago roots and musical influences
Anastazja’s Chicago roots are regularly emphasized in professional profiles. This is particularly significant in the context of her musical development, as Chicago is widely regarded as one of the key birthplaces of house music.
At the same time, Anastazja’s approach to house has always extended beyond a single subgenre. Her sets may include deep and soulful house, funk, disco, amapiano, Brazilian funk, jungle, R&B, soul, jazz and various forms of African and Latin American dance music.
What unifies this material is not genre classification in itself, but groove, rhythmic compatibility and the ability of a track to sustain the movement of the dance floor. This principle later became one of the most recognizable features of her DJ style.
Education and multimedia art
Alongside her musical work, Anastazja Love Ball studied at the University of Southern California (USC). At the USC School of Cinematic Arts, she studied Media Arts and Practice; her name appears in the university’s official 2025 commencement program.
Her education in media arts connects directly with another side of her professional practice. Anastazja works with graphic and digital design, multimedia, creative direction, fashion and event production.
As a result, her creative practice is not limited to DJ performance. Music, visual language, design, fashion and spatial presentation are treated as interconnected parts of a single artistic project.
Beginning of her music career
The early stage of Anastazja’s career was closely connected with the independent club scene in Los Angeles. Her audience gradually developed through local performances, online mixes, special DJ sets and original edits.
One of her early documented mixes appeared in the Basic.Space Sound series in 2023. Even at this stage, a principle that would become characteristic of Anastazja was already evident: the free combination of house with R&B, funk, African dance music and club reinterpretations of familiar tracks.
She reached a significantly wider international audience later that same year after her Boiler Room appearance.
Boiler Room
On September 28, 2023, the set Anastazja | Boiler Room LA: Donavan's Yard, recorded in Los Angeles, was published.
The performance became one of the most visible documents of the early stage of her career. It showcased the format that would later become characteristic of Anastazja: familiar vocal tracks, house, amapiano and music from different regional scenes brought together within a single dynamic dance-floor environment.
Anastazja later returned to Boiler Room through a collaboration with Goyo Club.
Soulection Radio
An important milestone in her development was her collaboration with Soulection — an international music community and radio platform known for its focus on contemporary electronic music, soul, R&B, hip-hop and music from different regions of the world.
On October 29, 2023, Anastazja presented Soulection Radio Show #616. The program included around 40 tracks, bringing together music by Goldie, Goapele, Outkast, Solange and Sade alongside amapiano and contemporary club edits.
This selection illustrates her working method particularly well: the sequence is not built around loyalty to a single genre, but around rhythmic and emotional connections between tracks.
Her relationship with Soulection continued in the following years. In January 2026, Anastazja performed at the project’s 15th-anniversary celebration at Club Space Miami. The recording was officially released as Soulection 15 Year: Anastazja at Club Space Miami, Jan 24, 2026 (DJ Mix).
Edits, remixes and original work
Anastazja’s studio catalog developed differently from that of many traditional electronic producers. A significant part of her early discography consists of edits, remixes and collaborative projects directly connected with DJ culture.
In October 2023, together with Bastian Bell, she released ALRIGHT AMAPIANO — an amapiano reinterpretation of Kendrick Lamar’s «Alright».
Later releases included Stay Together Jungle Edit, created with Simen Sez, the project Anastazja & Jerry C — Summer V. I, and I HATE EVERYTHING (Anastazja & shekdash Remix).
These works follow the same principle found in her DJ sets: an existing track or musical idea is reimagined through a different rhythm and placed into a new club context.
Electric Cleaners and Goyo Club
In 2024, a notable chapter of Anastazja’s career was her collaboration with Goyo Club and participation in the Electric Cleaners series.
The concept centered on DJ sets recorded outside the traditional club environment — in the space of an operating dry cleaner in Los Angeles’ Koreatown.
Anastazja’s set focused primarily on house, deep house and soulful house, revealing a softer and more melodic side of her musical selection.
NTS
On July 2, 2024, Anastazja presented a program on the London radio station NTS.
Her selection brought together house, R&B, Afrobeat, jazz and Latin American influences. As in her other sets, genre boundaries were secondary to an overall rhythmic logic and a coherent musical narrative.
Her appearance on NTS became an important step in expanding Anastazja’s presence beyond the American club scene.
Rinse FM
Her collaboration with the British station Rinse FM came to occupy a particularly important place in the next stage of her career.
Anastazja began regularly presenting programs that moved between house, electronic music, funk, soul, jazz, dance and techno. Her broadcasts continued in 2026, when she also appeared as part of the Rinse Summer Series.
Her Rinse shows clearly demonstrate the breadth of her musical range: house remains the primary point of reference, but an individual program may move toward soul and funk, experimental electronic music or a more club-oriented techno sound.
New York and her own events
Alongside the development of her career in Los Angeles, Anastazja built her own audience in New York.
One of the important venues during this period was SOB's, where she performed. One show also featured saxophonist Kobie Dozier, adding a live instrumental element to the traditional DJ-set format.
Her New York performance history later continued at other venues, including H0L0.
Rampa and Keinemusik
Events with Rampa, one of the founders of Keinemusik, marked another notable stage in Anastazja’s international development.
Anastazja performed as direct support for Rampa and also appeared on lineups with Kaytranada, DJ Pee Wee, Major League DJz, Kilimanjaro and other artists.
At the end of 2025, a dedicated Keinemusik Radio Show by Anastazja was published. For her career, working within the Keinemusik orbit became another step from the independent American club scene toward the international house circuit.
Lightning in a Bottle
One of the first major festival milestones in Anastazja’s career was her performance at the American festival Lightning in a Bottle.
The festival stage expanded the context of her performances: an artist who had previously developed primarily through clubs, independent events, radio shows and online mixes gained the opportunity to present her approach to a much broader audience.
International touring
As Anastazja’s profile grew, her touring geography expanded far beyond the United States.
She performed in the United Kingdom and other European countries, played in London, appeared at European festivals and club events, and made her debut in Rio de Janeiro. Brazil came to occupy a particular place in her professional biography.
Her European appearances included Paradise City Festival and other events connected with the contemporary house and electronic scene.
Travel gradually became not only a practical part of touring but also one of the sources of new musical material and inspiration.
Probably Dancing Somewhere
The idea of exploring the music of different cities developed further in the project Probably Dancing Somewhere.
Its concept is based on Anastazja’s encounters with local music cultures during her travels. Different cities, club scenes, artists and rhythmic traditions become material that later influences her own DJ sets.
This approach helps explain the gradual expansion of her musical vocabulary and her sustained interest in music beyond the familiar American or European house canon.
Brazil and Brazilian funk
Brazil occupies a special place among Anastazja’s international influences.
Brazilian funk had already appeared in her musical palette, but traveling and performing in the country allowed her to engage directly with local club culture.
Materials associated with her Brazilian period include VENENO São Paulo and RONRONANDO, both published in 2025.
Brazilian funk did not become a separate new direction for Anastazja. Instead, it was naturally integrated into a broader system in which Chicago house exists alongside South African, Brazilian, British and other international dance traditions.
Circoloco Radio
On January 13, 2026, Circoloco Radio 435 — ANASTAZJA was released.
Her participation in the Circoloco radio series established another connection between Anastazja and international house culture. Circoloco’s history is closely associated with DC10 in Ibiza and with the development of the contemporary European club scene.
A COLORS MIX 005
On March 6, 2026, Anastazja presented A COLORS MIX 005 — an official DJ mix for COLORS.
The release runs for approximately one hour and contains 15 tracks. Although classified as house, the structure of the mix follows Anastazja’s familiar principle: genre functions as a starting point rather than a strict limitation on the musical material.
Her collaboration with COLORS introduced her DJ approach to an audience beyond specialist club media.
Anastazja’s musical style
The central element of Anastazja’s musical language remains house, connected in part with her Chicago roots. However, her work cannot be accurately described within the boundaries of a single genre.
Across her various sets and radio programs, her selections include:
- Chicago house;
- deep house and soulful house;
- funk and disco;
- amapiano;
- Brazilian funk;
- African dance music and Afrobeat;
- jungle;
- R&B and soul;
- jazz;
- Latin American music.
For Anastazja, genre eclecticism is not an end in itself. The main criteria remain rhythm, groove and the ability of a track to continue the musical dramaturgy of the set organically.
House usually functions as the framework within which she works freely with different tempos, eras and regional musical traditions.

Selected radio and live mixes
Anastazja’s archives also include recordings from Boiler Room, Soulection Radio, Rinse FM, NTS, Circoloco Radio, Keinemusik Radio, Electric Cleaners and other DJ sets. These recordings are more accurately treated separately from her core discography, as many of them are radio programs, live recordings or special mixes rather than standalone studio releases.
Anastazja as a music selector
The concept of the music selector is particularly important for understanding Anastazja’s work. Despite having her own edits, remixes and collaborations, a substantial part of her reputation is based specifically on the art of music selection.
Her sets are built around finding connections between tracks that may come from completely different traditions. Jungle can sit next to R&B, amapiano next to soulful house, and Brazilian funk next to American funk or contemporary club edits.
In this model, the DJ is not only a performer who technically blends tracks, but also a music curator: someone who creates context, places different scenes in dialogue and changes the listener’s perception of familiar music through its position within a set.
Multimedia approach
A distinctive feature of Anastazja’s professional profile is the connection between DJ culture and visual art.
Her background in Media Arts and Practice and her work with digital design, multimedia, fashion and creative direction allow her to treat music as part of a broader artistic environment.
Within this approach, visual presentation, venue selection, event structure and musical programming become interconnected elements.
Anastazja therefore represents a contemporary model of the multidisciplinary electronic artist, working simultaneously with music, visual culture and curatorial practices.
Anastazja and DJ Mag Top 100 DJs LIVE
In 2026, DJ Mag included Anastazja in the lineup for Top 100 DJs LIVE 2026 at [UNVRS] in Ibiza.
The announced lineup also included Charlotte de Witte, Lost Frequencies, GORDO, Korolova and Vintage Culture.
For Anastazja, appearing at one of the international electronic music industry’s most visible events marked another stage in the rapid expansion of her professional audience following Boiler Room, international radio shows and touring activity.
At the same time, participation in Top 100 DJs LIVE should not be confused with placement in the annual DJ Mag Top 100 DJs ranking: the event lineup and the results of the public vote are separate categories.
Anastazja’s place on the contemporary electronic scene
By the mid-2020s, Anastazja’s professional trajectory had developed around a model different from the traditional DJ-producer career path.
For much of her rise, the main expression of her artistic identity remained the DJ set itself — the selection of tracks, its dramaturgy and the ability to connect music from different scenes and cultures.
Boiler Room significantly expanded her online audience; Soulection demonstrated the breadth of her musical selection; NTS and Rinse FM strengthened her presence in international radio; Goyo Club projects allowed her to experiment with performance formats; work with Rampa and Keinemusik connected her to the international house scene, while touring in Europe and Brazil broadened the range of influences in her music.
Anastazja’s defining quality remains her ability to work across genres. House serves as the main point of reference, but her sets also make room for amapiano, jungle, Brazilian funk, funk, soul, R&B, jazz and music from a wide range of dance cultures around the world.
For this reason, Anastazja can be described primarily as an American house DJ, music selector and multimedia artist whose creative identity is formed at the intersection of club culture, international music selection and visual art.
Within the first years of her international career, her professional biography came to include Boiler Room, Soulection, NTS, Rinse FM, Lightning in a Bottle, Keinemusik Radio, Circoloco Radio, COLORS and Club Space Miami. Together, these projects illustrate her transition from the independent American club environment to an established presence on the international electronic music scene.
